Business Case

A multi-national pharma company’s supply chain department was facing challenges in managing their Serialization Product Tracking (SPT). The transaction data within SPT which includes business information of product serial numbers, decommissioned serial numbers, contract manufacturing processes, etc., are stored with SAP Advanced Track and Trace Pharma (ATTP) System.

Due to the transactional nature of the date numerous events were being triggered for each serialized product. The volume of this data was enormous to manually consolidate and build reports. So, the stakeholders were looking for a way to have a consolidated view and subsequent reports on SPT data.
The company was looking for a technology partner who could help them build a robust data management system which could handle the size of the data and still be able to create a consolidated view.

Our Solution

Our data architects analyzed the data and the existing technical stack, they designed a robust data management pipeline which could successfully handle the huge volumes of data and produce accurate reports for stakeholder’s consumption.

The team integrated the ATTP tables with SAP within a quick turnaround time, enabling daily execution of transaction data integration. Usage of Pyspark assisted in handling large volumes of data. Our team created efficient data models which aggregated the data and published accurate reports. This enabled timely monitoring the data and eliminated the manual workflow of going through huge data sets.

Our data engineers constructed a robust Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard which provided a bird’s eye view of the aggregated data. Additionally, the world map charts within the dashboard assisted the business users to understand contract manufacturing operation in detail.
The comprehensive reports built by the system not only enabled easy consumption by the senior executives but also to reached out to manufacturing units in different locations to highlight gaps within their data maintenance.

Benefits

  • Aggregated view of all the STP ATTP data

  • Comprehensive dashboards for easy stakeholder consumption

  • Elimination of manual data processing and provision for daily data monitoring

  • Interactive BI dashboards to flag the manufacturing units in various locations about any data inconsistencies

  • A bird’s eye view of the STP status for the senior executives
